Third Busiest Train Station in the U.S.

  • The region is convenient to both New York and Washington D.C., with high-speed Amtrak Acela and Metroliner service to both.
  • Greater Philadelphia is home to the third busiest train station in the Amtrak U.S., with three of the busiest stations located in the region. 
  • The Amtrak station in Philadelphia region serves 5.5 million passengers in 2008.*
  • Amtrak's Northeast Corridor is the busiest railroad in North America with 1,700 trains running daily. 
  • The backbone of the regional rail system is the Amtrak corridor from Washington, D.C.; north through Wilmington, DE; Philadelphia, PA; Princeton, NJ; and onward to New York and Boston.
  • A system of local commuter rails, buses, and trolleys serves commuters throughout the Greater Philadelphia region: SEPTA, DART, PATCO, NJ Transit, RiverLINE.
  • TransitChek vouchers reward employees and employers with tax breaks for using public transportation to commute to work.  TransitCheks can be used to purchase tickets, passes and tokens on all of the region's major transit providers -- SEPTA, PATCO, NJ Transit, DART First State, the RiverLINE, and Amtrak.
